A pharmaceutical company in Anhui, China, specializing in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) granules and powdered drink mixes. With customers around the world, the pharmaceutical company wanted to increase their product output and packaging variety and therefore partnered with Coretamp. As a result, the granule packaging system automates TCM granule stick-pack packaging, pack counting and cartoning.

Solutions
  • The granule packaging machine, LC630, uses synchronized control through servo drive, unlike traditional single-lane control. As a result, 8-lane simultaneous feeding and packaging is achieved, and mass production of TCM granule products is enhanced.
  • Dustproof fiber-optic sensor is adopted and the counting sensor on every lane is equipped with an automatic air-purge cleaning unit, preventing dust accumulation.
  • Workstations across the line are synchronized through servo drive. Functions like visual inspection, alarming for carton jams, misalignment and missing pack, rejection and clearing are added, reducing downtime.
  • Dust extraction systems are installed at workstations with high dust levels and work with laminar airflow system to reduce airborne dust. Cylinders, guide rails, conveyor components are equipped with anti-dust covers, which prevent dust damage to critical components.
  • Preventive maintenance approach program is adopted, ensuring regular cleaning, lubricating, consumable part replacing, and preventing dust-induced jerking, deviation and long downtime.
  • The entire production process is monitored so that the output, product counts, errors and batch records can be tracked. In compliance with GMP hygiene standards, the automation level is increased to reduce needs for manual labor and the risk of contamination.

  • Near-zero overcounting & undercounting rate is achieved and production yield is close to 99.9%.
  • One-tap changeover function is included and the changeover time is reduced by more than 70%.
  • Repetitive and labor-intensive operations are reduced.
  • The 8-lane packaging line delivers approximately seven to eight times the output of a comparable single-lane machine.
